Power

Power is again one of the key sectors for the economic and social development of any country. The entire power sector is divided majorly into three sectors namely power generation; power transmission and supporting industries out of which MMP Group has its noticeable presence in power generation and the manufacturing of power transformers.

Power Generation

Since MMP Group is the Second largest sugar producer of the country; we also produce about 2.00 million metric tonnes of Sugar Bagasse every year as our bi – product or Agro waste. MMP group has transformed this bi – product into a power generation opportunity and today we produce around 50.00 Mega Watts of total electricity in our various sugar manufacturing facilities. Out of this 50.00 MW generated by us; we consume about 20.00 MW for our own operational needs and the additional 30.00 MW of electricity is supplied to the people of Uganda through the national power gridlines. MMP Group also aims to put small to medium scale solar power plants in the near future at various locations of Uganda based on the power needs and support the country in the electricity reach to every household. This can not only save the transmission costs but also boost the development of the areas where the electricity has not yet reached.

Power Transformers

The ever-growing energy need and the development growth of the country have inspired us to produce cost effective, durable and reliable power transformers within the country which can enable the seamless distribution of power across Uganda. Because of our entity known as Nile Transformers; MMP Group is the only manufacturer in Uganda who can produce transformers up to 50.00 Mega Watts at present.
